Description

Morley's Run is a 5 mile Run or a 5 Mile Walk. Both events are competitive, family oriented and open to all ages. The race courses take participants by many Johnstown landmarks, beginning at the Westmont Grove and ending in downtown Johnstown at Peoples Natural Gas park. All proceeds from this event benefit The Newspapers in Education (NIE) program that supplies newspapers to area teachers to use as curriculum in their classrooms.

Can I register the day of the race?
Yes! Registration can be done on race day. Cost is $25. (However we can't guarantee you an awesome jersey if you register after Oct 15th)

 

What if it rains or snows?
The race will go on rain, snow or shine.

 

Is there registration fee refundable?
NO. Refunds will not be given. Please see our cancellation policy on our registration page.

 

Is there an age limit?
There is no minimum or maximum. However, all minors must have a signed waiver from their parent or guardian.

 

Am I guaranteed an event jersey?
Pre-registered runners that sign up by Oct 15 are guaranteed a race-jersey. Runners who register after that are not guaranteed a race jersey and will receive one as supplies last.

 

What times does the race start?
9 a.m. (Same day registration starts at 8 a.m.)

 

Where does the race start/end.
The race starts at the Westmont Grove, 1000 Edgehill Drive, Johnstown and ends at PNG Park 90 Johns St., Johnstown.

 

Can I ride my bike?
Other than adaptive vehicles no other mode of transportation is permitted. No unicycles, bicycles, skates/roller blades, or non registered runners or individuals are permitted on the course.

 

Can I listen to music during the race?
Wearing of headsets is not recommended.

 

What do I do after I have completed the race?
Hang out with us to celebrate! Food and refreshments will be provided for race participants at the end of the race, while supplies last.

 

Where can I see the results of Morley's Run?
Results will be printed in The Tribune-Democrat following the race. They will also be available online here at morleysrun.org

The Course

The 5 Mile course starts at the Westmont Grove, turn right on to Edgehill Drive, turn left on to Wyoming St. (note "slight" hill). Follow Wyoming Street (at top of hill stay straight, Wyoming turns into Crystal) until Stackhouse Park entrance (the entrance will be on your left across from Lehigh Street). Enter the park and follow Crystal Path straight through until the "shoot" for 5 milers Turn right on the "shoot" then Turn right on main path, take path all the way to the bottom of Stackhouse Park and exit Stackhouse Park onto Norton Road. Take Norton Road to D Street and veer to the r!ght. Take D Street to the end and make a r!ght onto Laurel Avenue under the train viaduct. Take Laurel Avenue to Iron Street. Turn right on Iron Street, follow Iron Street to the Fourth Avenue bridge. Turn right on Fourth Avenue and cross the bridge into Cambria City. Stay straight on 4th Ave, make left onto Chestnut Street. Stay on Chestnut Street until Third Avenue. Make a left onto Third Avenue (run past Bottle Works and Art Works buildings). Make a right onto Power Street. (Power Street turns into Roosevelt Boulevard), and run along the river. Stay to the left and run on the sidewalk (about 100 yards) to the pedestrian bridge. Cross the pedestrian bridge (by JWF). Make a right back onto Iron St., run to the finish inside Peoples Natural Gas Park.
